Molly introduced me to Fusion and Wiki! We discussed how we would use these to communicate with students. Wiki opens a lot of doors to integrating technology in our classroom. I love that students can be so involved.

Tonight I explored different examples of how Wiki is used at the elementary level. I am looking at ways that I could use Wiki in my reading centers. I also learned how to create another wiki page! I believe that I could use a class wiki page to show growth in student writing. I wonder if students could write one sentence or more and they could watch themselves grow as authors. It would also be fun to allow them to see each others pages and comment on their growth. Another thought for a reading center... one group could type a sentence or two for that day. The next day a new group could add on and create a developing story.

Wow! Today I worked on my fusion page. I feel like this will be a great communication source between my parents and I! I was able to upload my newsletters so parents will be able to open old and new newsletters at any time. They will also have access to our kindergarten schedule at any time. I am enjoying all the different options. It was fun to look at everyone's different pages as well. I feel like this time has encouraged me to be one step ahead learning about fusion and getting my page done!

Molly showed us smart board tools and demonstrated many ways we can use them. I found this very helpful. I start to think I know what I am doing and then I find a quicker or easier way to work the smart board. I also learned how to use many new buttons. One of the greatest things that she shared with us is how we can use SMARTech online. This site has many lessobns that are directly tied to the standards. They are fun for the students and interactive using the smart board. The more I learn about the smart board the more I am inspired to increase the use of it in my classroom. This session gave me a lot of ideas for ways to integrate the smart board in my math lessons as well as writing and reading centers. Thanks Molly!

We spent the morning exploring school fusion and wikispaces. I have gained great knoledge learning about technology from others. We also had time to look at iPod applications that I can use for reading and math. The stduents absolutely love to use the iPods.

Today we were introduced to myON. This program would allows students to read books at their level on the computer. When they finish the book they answer comprehension questions. I really think the students would love the books. This would also graph their growth, which would be awesome to share with parents.

This evening we explored more things we could use the SMART board for as well as how to use the document camera with the SMART board. I think every teacher should have a document camera. Teachers could use these in so many ways. I love that you can take an artifact and show it to the whole class. From there you can manipulate it, write on it, record it, and all the students can see it at one time.
